What's the greatest honour an A Lister could hope to have bestowed on them? A star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame? A lipstick named after them? Well, if you're a traditionalist, a wax figure.

Lucky for Adriana Lima, she's got just that. One of the longest-serving Victoria's Secret Angels, Adriana was presented with her wax figure at Madame Tussauds in New York this week. She's the first VS Angel to have the honour, and one of very few models to rub waxy shoulders with Barack Obama and Angelina Jolie.

Adriana was voted by fans via Madame Tussaud's website in their thousands as the figure they most wanted to see join the line up - something which apparently moved Adriana 'almost to tears'.

Getting your figure made means you fit a very specific criteria - you have to be well-known enough for people to want to take a selfie with your likeness, but also relevant enough to attract new visitors.

Adriana apparently spent many hours with the team at Madame Tussaud's in sittings to ensure they captured her 'all the way down to the birthmark on my chin'. Creating a wax figure is a long old slog, taking multiple sculptors, countless precise measurements and a subject able to hold a pose for as long as it takes.

Lima told US Vogue, 'I flew to New York and had a sitting that took more than three hours. They measured every point of my body to make sure they had everything right. I had to stand in heels in the pose almost the whole time. It wasn’t easy, but I am so happy about how it came out.”

The end result is undoubtedly an incredible likeness - if not a little unnerving as these sculptures often are in the way of the Freudian uncanny. Adriana is pleased as punch with the figurine, calling it 'an incredible gift'.
