5 Ways To Re-energise Your Work Day

There’s no dancing around it- working full-time can turn even the most enthusiastic person into a sloth-like nine-to-fiver. Work can be great, (if you like your job,) but even if you get enough sleep and eat quite well, there are just some days when you can’t help but feel sluggish. A quick pep me up can sort you out and keep you inspired for the rest of your day. Get the zest back for your work life with these simple ideas.

1. Listen to a podcast

You may think it will be distraction, but you might find it can be a tool for inspiration if you’re in the middle of a work day slump. If you have a tedious or repetitive task, find an enlightening podcast and you may learn a thing or two.

2. Unload your thoughts at a coffee shop

We don’t mean harassing the barista with your problems. Feeling sluggish or distracted? Sashay down to a Starbucks with a blank pad of paper. What ends up on the page may be a big scribbly mess, but you’ve now unburdened your mind to some extent, and you’ll start feeling more productive.

3. Take breaks to stretch and snack

Sometimes all that’s holding you back is a bit of stress and muscle tension. Beat it by standing up and doing neck and back stretches as often as you can. When it comes to tucking into some snacks to reenergise, go for the healthier options. Resist the urge to hit the vending machine, and stack your draw with nuts and fruit at the beginning of the week.

4. Brighten up your desk

Your environment is everything and it can really impact how you work. Buy a bright, colourful calendar to remind yourself of important dates, use a cute pen and notepad for your ideas and pick up a funky frame to house your fav pic of you and your mates.

5. Take up a lunchtime hobby

Your job doesn’t and shouldn’t define you. Even if you’re busy throughout your work day, it’s important to make time for yourself. Otherwise, what are you working for? Explore interests outside your career and do something new and fun on your lunch breaks. Take a short art or yoga class, read, visit a gallery, write in a journal, or call and chat to a friend you haven’t spoken to in a while.
