The Definitive guide in finding your Chinese Zodiac Signs:

Chinese Horoscopes are actually a ball of fun. Instead of 12 ‘moon signs’, there are 60 ‘Gods of the Year’ that take turn to take care of the world and the people (big job). There are a total of 12 animals that govern each year. If you’re a horoscope cynic you’re probably about to point out that there are definitely more than 12 types of people in the world. But in Chinese horoscopes there are quite a few nuanced versions of each animal, and depending on your time of birth, you can be an animal of one of the five elements (i.e. gold, wood, water, fire, earth). In ancient times, many Chinese people used this elements and animals combination when deciding who they’d marry – to ensure compatility.A bit like a abacus-powered version of Tinder, except during the Tsing Dynasty (cir 1644-1912). And it wasn’t just used by people to find their future bae - people use that to pre-assess potential business partners and people they wanted to work with.

What is ‘Fan Tai Sui’ (犯太歲) – aka what happens if your animal God doesn’t get along with this year’s God?

As you can imagine(!) not all 60 Gods of the year get along with each other. So if you’re born on the year of that God that doesn’t get along with this year of the God, there is a saying for it in Chinese – ‘Fan Tai Sui’ – and basically it means that the year has a bit more potential to be a disaster for you than for other people. A bit unfair, yes, but there’s nothing you can do about the Gods. For 2016 it’s most likely to effect those who are born in the years of Monkey, Tiger, Snake and Pig. But Fear not! Chinese also believe that if you take extra precautions and wear some cute animal charms, it is possible to resolve the conflict with Tai Sui to ensure a peaceful and healthy year devoid of disasters.

Well that’s enough history for you today. So, what’s your fortune for 2016 year of the monkey? Check out with the chart below on which animal you are and click through our guide for 2016.
