A 20-something-year-old couple made history in Arkansas over the weekend as the first gay couple to marry in the southern US state.
Judge Chris Piazza struck out a 2004 ban on gay marriage on Friday, deeming it unconstitutional, as well as throwing out a 1997 ban on same-sex marriage.
Kristin Seaton, 27, and Jennifer Rambo, 26, were issued with a marriage licence and wed on the footpath in front of the courthouse on Saturday, after spending the night in their car in order to be first in line to get the historic licence.
Arkansas is the first of the traditionally conservative southern states to recognise same-sex marriage.
