As 2015 draws to a close, we bring you the 10 most important must-see Instagram posts of the year.

2015 was the year that…

  1. Squads became a thing

Welcome to the year of the squad. This summer Taylor Swift tagged her ‘squad’ on Instagram, and suddenly #squad and #squadgoals had everyone snapping and tagging… until we reached peak #squad and never wanted to hear of another #squad ever again.

  1. Caitlyn Jenner broke the Internet

Bruce announced his transition into (the icon that is) Caitlyn with his Vanity Fair cover...

  1. Mossy and Marc Jacobs did the Basic Bitch dance

First our fave Super’, Kate Moss, gets escorted off an Easy Jet flight for being abusive, following a hardcore detox in Bodrum. ‘Hangry’ much?! Then she calls the pilot a ‘basic bitch’. Then ‘basic bitch’ becomes our insult of choice. As if this wasn’t enough, Mossy makes an Insta-vid with Marc Jacobs and this is the result:

  1. Kendall’s hair was the most Liked pic of 2015

We can only imagine Kim’s face as she discovered that little sister Kendall had swiped her off the Insta most Liked ever top spot. Kendall stole the crown off Kim and Kanye’s wedding snap with this snap of her luscious locks pulled into hearts:

  1. Swan Inflatables became a thing

This time last year, any old inflatable went: dolphins, turtles, even, dare we say it, the faithful old lilo. Then came along Taylor Swift and Calvin Harris, cruising past on a swan on Instagram, and suddenly swans were the only viable option this summer.

  1. Kylie Jenner debuted THOSE lips

Wowzers. We thought we had reached peak Kylie Jenner selfie last year, when she seemed to post a bikini shot by the minute. Then came those lips. There were months of surgery denials and a gazillion selfies before she came clean on Keeping Up With The Kardashians. And since then? A gazillion more selfies and a gazillion teenage girls saving up to get their lips filled.

  1. Lena Dunham called out the body-shamers

Body-shaming is just not right for now (or ever, for that matter), and no-one knows that better than Lena Dunham, who made her point this year more eloquently then we ever could, and bagged herself over 66k Likes in the process:

  1. #JeSuisParis

The Paris terrorist atrocities happened and the Insta-world united in support of Paris with the hashtag #JeSuisParis and this illustration of the Eiffel Tower in a peace sign by French graphic designer, Jean Jullien:

  1. Bieber showed us a bit too much (then took it down)

We thought we’d seen more than we could ever see of Justin Bieber. Then came a naked snap of him from behind, around the same time as he unleashed his mini Bieber for the paps. Then we realised we REALLY had seen too much this time. But sadly for the Beliebers, the naked post was swiftly deleted by the man himself, after a friend’s daughter spotted it and shamed him into removing it. In lieu of the actual pic:

  1. Gigi and Zayn became ZiZi

Just one year ago, Zayn Malik was engaged to Perrie and we just knew they would marry, have beautiful babies and live happily ever after. But things took a turn in 2015 when Zayn left One Direction, dyed his hair a cool grey, dumped Perrie over text and nabbed himself Victoria’s Secret model, Gigi Hadid. After being papped holding hands, the pair announced their relationship via a Polaroid on Instagram in December and ZiZi was born. Hallelujah!
