Podcaster Kylie Kelce has opened up about gender disappointment, saying she once 'lost it' after learning that she was having a daughter.
The 32-year-old pregnant mother of three, and wife of Jason Kelce, said she 'wasn't big on gender reveals' as 'there’s always some degree of bias whether you realise it or not'.
She made the comments on the first episode of her new podcast Not Gonna Lie, which was released on Thursday.
'I’m not big on gender reveals because I do think there’s always some degree of bias whether you realise it or not,' she said. 'To be completely transparent, when we found out we were having Ellie and Ellie was a girl, I cried for a solid 30 minutes.'
'I’m not talking about that I was sad,' she added. 'I’m talking about a full heaving cry for 30 minutes.'
She explained that she had previously always known when she was going to have daughters, and because her pregnancy with Ellie felt so different she had convinced herself Ellie was a boy.
'I had somehow convinced myself in my subconscious not even knowingly that it was a boy. So when I heard that it was a girl, I completely lost it,' she said.
In hindsight, she only 'holds only the slightest bit of guilt' about her reaction, as once Ellie arrived she was so happy.
'We met Ellie and she was the sweetest, most lovely little girl, and she still is,' she said. 'But there’s always this underlying — you kind of lean in one direction. I always tell people we want healthy babies. Everyone thinks we went for a fourth to try for a boy. I knew we were going to get a girl.'
Kylie and Jason Kelce got married in 2018 after matching on Tinder. They're parents to three daughters – Wyatt (five), Ellie (three) and Bennet (19 months).
Taylor Swift is in a relationship with Jason’s brother Travis Kelce.
In the same episode, Kylie shared that she does not enjoy being pregnant, saying it's a 'means to an end'.
'I am so incredibly grateful to be able to get pregnant, but it is a means to an end,' she said. 'When I tell you that I cannot stand being pregnant, I mean it. I don't have a a fun time.'
