To say that 2018 has been an emotional roller-coaster for Zayn Malik would be quite an understatement. He went from writing a confusing collection of almost philosophical poems [{href='https://thedebrief.co.uk/things-to-do/music/zayn-malik-instagram-poem-new-album/' target='_blank' rel='noopener noreferrer'}) and the promise of a world tour, to breaking up with Gigi Hadid and deleting his entire Instagram history.
One minute Zayn was telling the world about his new single Let Me and how much better he’s feeling about himself, his life, his music, and the next he’s being dumped by his management company too. The poor dear.
It's been reported that Sarah Stennett, co-founder of First Access Entertainment (the management company Zayn had been with since his departure from One Direction all those years ago), has confirmed that they no longer work together. She had called time on her working relationship with Zayn and told Variety that ‘sometimes in life you have to make extremely difficult decisions to effect positive change for everyone’.
According to claims made to The Sun, the separation was because ‘Zayn’s hot-headed and has let his tongue run away with him too many times’, which is evidently a bit of an issue. And in the context of the period in which all of this is happening, it has us worried about what’s really going on.
Word on the internet that after splitting with Gigi, Zayn’s mood and temper became more troublesome which, needless to say, isn’t helpful for the people trying to, err, manage him. The timing of the whole thing is a bit worrying, though because with a tour on the horizon and a new album due to drop in just a couple of months time, it's a pretty crucial period for Zayn to get out and about with all of those promotional obligations that he's not really done in the past. And doing that usually requires some sort of help from some sort of management team, one assumes.
As fans, we're concerned. Very very concerned. Is something bigger going on here, Zayn? Because things look a bit wobbly from over here. Bailing this close to your second album isn't exactly subtle and we don't want you to be going around making things harder for everyone (yourself included, mate).
