Were you as surprised as I was when Taylor and Zayn released a song together? For the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack of all soundtracks? Because I definitely did not see it coming.
Sure, they must be somewhat friends, what with Gigi Hadid being bff with one and the gf of the other. But they’re not two musical peas I would have put in the same pod. Nevertheless, it’s a thing that happened and it kind of worked out pretty well.
The full music video is finally here and it's just as sultry and brooding as you’d expect. Although, neither of them look very happy to be there.
It’s night time and it’s raining (because those are the only conditions in which one can be sexy, apparently). There’s lots of walking around rather slowly, flashing lights, some rolling around in a bed, smashing of crockery and lots of sexual tension at play. Don't panic, we don't actually see Zayn and Taylor make any sort of contact, because that'd be awks. They just stand back to back for a while still not looking very happy about living forever without eachother, or something.
The question on all of our minds though – how chill was Gigi about all of this? Because there is no way that having your boyfriend and best friend working on the music video for their 50 Shades song, as in a song for a film very much about pushing all sorts of sexual boundaries, isn’t at least a bit weird to watch. Awkward 'we're not going to look at eachother so lets just stand back to back and look all hot and moody' pose or not.
Saying that though, I’d like to think Gigi was on set the whole time. Quietly watching very, veeeery carefully. That, or she's just a far better and together human being than me and was actually at sat home in her sweatpants barely aware of the video shoot because Zayn is bae and Taylor knows better and she's Gigi fucking Hadid.
