Not content with being a singer, Kelis is pretty into her food. That’s why she’s presenting a cookery show for the Cooking Channel. *Saucy And Sweet *will feature her own recipes, and will give fans ‘an inside look at how she composes food with attitude’.

It’s not as bizarre as it sounds – Kelis has got a food-themed album coming out later this year (21 April). Called, simply, _Food, s_ongs on the album are titled Breakfast, Cobbler, Friday Fish Fry and of course, Jerk Ribs, which she released last year. Rumble is another song from the album, and it might not be about food, but it’s about heartache and that’s a lot like feeling very hungry, isn't it?

No word yet on what’s happened to her Skream collaboration, Distance, where she sings ‘taste the difference’ lots – maybe a Sainsbury’s sponsorship deal fell by the wayside.

Kelis' preoccupation with nosh dates all the way back to 2003, when she nabbed herself a Number 2 hit with Milkshake* (we remember that time well, so obsessed we were with copying Kelis that we drank an entire bottle of hot pink Yazoo on the bus home from school every evening and once made ourselves very very sick. To think, our parents were worried the lyrics were too sexy!). And that was on an album called Tasty, too.

And if that wasn’t enough of a theme, from 2006-2010, Kelis trained part-time as a chef at no less than Le Cordon Bleu. She also has a brand of sauce, called Feast. OK, we’re pretty hungry now. Dinner time, byeeee!
