One Drink Five Ways is back! Celebrate the (nearly) end of a very boring, very dull January with the next installment in our very excellent series on how to take one brilliant bottle of booze and turn it into five very different cocktails so even the most picky of your mates are happy.
This week, we're looking at whisky, which is definitely having a moment as we kickstart 2015, with the Japanese fuelling the trend. Basically if you still associate whisky with old dudes who drink it on the rocks whilst wearing suits, you need to rethink your attitude young lady. There's loads and loads of brilliant cocktails you make using whisky. 1 Drink 5 Ways - Whiskey
Take One Bottle Of Dewars Whisky...
Whether your friends are self-confessed whisky haters or they're cool enough to order nothing else when you guys go to bars, we've got five super excellent whisky based cocktails here to keep everyone happy.
**The Fancy One - The Old Fashioned**
Don Draper’s favourite drink – this one’s ridiculously easy to make and a great nightcap to knock up for the Fancy Man in your life. To make the sassy garnish peel a long bit of orange skin, twist it into a cone and pop a glacier cherry in the hole (Oi! Oi!). Get the recipe here.
**The Fruity One - The Whisky And Elderflower Cobbler**
Anyone who thinks they don’t like whisky will change their mind after trying this one. The OJ, sugar and St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur really take the edge off the whisky, so it basically tastes like a refreshing breakfast cocktail with a hint of naughty.
Whisky & Elderflower Cobbler
50ml Dewars White Label
Juice of half a squeezed orange
3 slices of lemon
2 teaspoons of caster sugar
25ml St Germain Elderflower Liqueur
Method
- Pour 50ml Dewars White Laberl into a medium sized wine glass
- Squeeze in half an orange
- Add 3 slices of lemon & 2 teaspoons of Caster sugar
- Fill the glass with crushed ice to the top.
- Pour in 25ml of St Germain and stir.

**The Ginger One - The Whisky Mac**
If you can, try and remember to put your whisky in the freezer and ginger wine in the fridge before making this cocktail, because it looks better when served sans rocks. Shove your tumbler glass in a bag of ice for a couple of minutes before serving too, so you can use it as a chilled carrier.
Whisky Mac
60ml Dewars White Label
30ml Ginger Wine
Method
Pour ingredients into an ice-filled Old Fashioned or rocks glass and lightly stir.

**The Real Whisky Baller One - The Rob Roy**
Take your time with this one, guys, it’s bloody strong. Keep in mind it's important to chill your glass since this cocktail doesn't have ice. To garnish take a long, wide bit of lemon peel and slice lengthways to garnish. If in doubt add a cherry. Full recipe here.
**Whisky Sour - The Professional One**
Technically you should use gomme (sugar syrup) for this, which you can buy in most big supermarkets, or to make it at home, add one cup of caster sugar to one cup of water and shake until dissolved - use the required amount as per the recipe. Sours are always a crowd pleaser, plus the frothed egg white seems really fancy but that part is actually really easy to do once you’re done fishing out the shell. Get the recipe here.
