And so today marked the launch of the Chris Moyles breakfast show again. Only this time it isn’t 2004 and the next song coming to you down the airwaves isn’t Breathe Easy by Blue (crying shame, that). Instead, it’s 2015 and the contraversial DJ has taken the reigns at the brand new incarnation of the radio station formerly known as XFM: Radio X.

You’ll probably remember a few weeks back that people got a bit upset when it was said that Radio X would be the ‘first truly male-focused’ station. Because every other station just plays Women’s Hour all day every day, obviously. Periods and vaginas, coming at you next on 104.2.

Surprisingly, though, Chris Moyles, the man who once called his female listeners on Radio 1 ‘dirty whores’, has taken umbridge with his bosses’ sexist male alignment. ‘If you’ve read about Radio X being a radio station being for men only, that is rubbish.’ Moyles said. ‘Nobody agrees with this, except for the one person who put it in the press release. Many people took that [to mean Radio X is] a radio station just for blokes.’ He continued. ‘That’s a load of balls. This male-focus thing does not affect us at all. I don’t care if you’re male, female, white, black – everyone is welcome to this station and this show. The person who said it, I will be firing later. I won’t, he’s a big boss.’

He then went on to play Girls Aloud L_ove Machine_. Just to prove that his musical offerings will also cater to ladies I suppose. Although, to be honest, I'm not sure that song sees gender. Male or female, it’s a bloody great song.

So, is Chris Moyles the new and unlikely face of the anti-lad culture movement? Probably not, but we’ll keep an eye on him.
