We Went To The Tiki Bar That Does The Best Bacardi Daiquiri

Because it's cold and miserable and we fancied pretending we were on holiday.

Where: Underground Tiki lounge on the Portobello Road.

For: Polynesian themed cocktails – think pineapple, mango and fiery explosions.

What People Are Saying: “Remaining laudably tongue-in-cheek while the rest of Ladbroke Grove drowns in chichi spots, Trailer Happiness is not a cocktail bar as such – with its deliberately tacky decor (Tretchikoff paintings galore) and DJ hatch, it’s far too informal for that.” – Time Out

What We’re Saying: It’s kitsch, cute, a lot of fun and definitely doesn’t take itself too seriously. Expect loud shirts (on the bar staff), funky basslines blasting from the DJ booth, cosy booths and informal tables and a cool, mid-twenty something crowd.

When Would You’d Go?: For a night out with the girls. For £45 you can get a sharing cocktail for 4 that comes in a cute mini BBQ. Plus, the bartenders collectively seemed to have that attractive beardy/tattoo vibe going for them which is always nice.

Is It A Good Date Spot?: Sure, provided you’ve got a table – things can get a little busy on a Saturday night. You can easily book one on their website though.

The Drink To Try: The Alpaca Boomerang might have a silly name but there’s no messing around here. Served in a tall glass with pineapple n’ palm leaf garnish, it’s refreshing, not too sweet and so delicious you might accidentally finish it in 3 minutes flat. Oops. If you're after a classic cocktail then ask for a Bacardi daiquiri. On separate note, if you want instructions on how to prepare the perfect Daiquiri at home. Click here.

What’s The Food Like?: Asian fusion nibbles like spring rolls and all number of delicious dumplings from scallop to pork. Perfect for sharing.

How About The Loos?: Erm, unisex – but fear not – you don’t have to share with the boys. Each door is clearly marked either for guys or girls.

Is It Worth The Cash?: Yes! Surprisingly so for West London where we wrongly assumed everything was marketed at Made in Chelsea prices. Cocktails start from £8 which – compared to joints further off the beaten track, is a total bargain.
