Pick Me Up: Graphic Arts Festival, a roundup

Being the picture nerds we are, the creative team jumped at the chance to check out all that glitters at this years Pick Me Up festival at Somerset House. Each year the festival celebrates both emerging and established illustrators, graphic designers and artists and this year it certainly didn't disappoint. There was an overwhelming amount of talent at the festival and we would have happily taken it all home if we could to deck out our pads/box rooms but we chosen our top picks below for every occasion.

The one to invest in: Sara Andreasson

We have been mildly obsessed with Sara for a while and were delighted to see her work at Pick Me Up. She's definitely one to watch and if you're considering investing in some illustrated art we'd recommend the Swedish illustrator and Editor of BBY Magazine. Her style is graphic and colourful and we think it would look excellent in our living rooms.

The one that makes you think of Thunderbirds (in a really great way): Hattie Newman

Miami, Hattie Newman

Hattie is a London based set designer who works in both 2D and 3D mainly working with paper to create objects and even cities to an insanely precise detail. Her creation for Kiehl's Earth Day in particular reminded us of the Thunderbirds Are A Go island…

The one you'll love if you're into graphic novels: Laura Callaghan

Limbo 2, Laura Callaghan

Irish illustrator Laura uses a mixture of water-colour, indian ink and isograph pen which lends itself to her comic strip style. Her work is female orientated, cool girls lounging around in bedrooms covered in 80s posters or hanging out with their friends in arcades.. they are the kind of girls you want to be.

The one to check out if you're especially into branding: La Tigre

La Tigre

Not only were Milan based design duo Luisa Milani and Walter Molteni some of the nicest people we've met in a while, their creative limits knew no bounds. Initially enticed over to their stall due to the their series 'Habitat' we were soon engrossed in making prints of our own using stamps, metallic paper and other general arts and crafts. Their strengths lie in creating super cool brand identities and logos.

The one to find adorable gifts for your mates: Ohhdeer

Complimentary Colours, Ohh Deer

You'll probably recognise Ohh Deer products even if you've never heard of the creative collective before. The Oh Deer website is the place for quirky gifts, original stationary and even clothing, all designed by a collection of super talented illustrators.
