So it’s London Wine Week. This means Londoners are out flashing their wristbands, hopping from bar to bar and sipping epic wines, champagnes and flights of wine (true story) for £5.
Jealous? BarChick says have your own grape party in one of these wicked wine bars outside of the big city. Because nothing says ‘party for one’ like a bottle of red with just the one glass. Sure, it might not be Wine Week, but as if you ever needed the excuse before…
Worcester – Brown’s Wine Bar
Back in the day, Brown’s was the swaggest place to fine dine in town. These days, all (we say ALL!) that remains of it’s former glory is a decent bar and a 50-strong wine list, and that’s all BarChick really cares about anyway.
24 Quay St, Worcester, WR1 2JJ
Dublin – Bagots Hutton Wine Emporium
This underground cave first opened its doors in 1828 and is the oldest wine bar in Ireland. Drink in the history as you tumble down the stairs and Chesterfields and new-age wine awaits you. Want to put the moves on? A tour of the wine tunnels should do it. Rustic romance at its finest.
28 South William Street, Dublin 2
Bath – St James Wine Vault
This laid-back pub has a wine list that’d get even the biggest tannin toff in a twist. Put your slurring skills to the test by getting sozzled and then hitting the open-mic night – Slim Shady in the house, yo!
10 St James Street, Bath, BA1 2TW
Manchester – Corbieres Wine Cavern
BarChick loves a not-so-salubrious side street, and if it’s sporting some sort of secret door and staircase, then even better. Descend into madness, this is one of the best vibes you’ll find in Manchester.
2 Half Moon Street, Manchester, M2 7PB
Birmingham – Bacchus
An underground medieval lair that's just bursting with marble, wrought iron and charm. Drink wine and take it back to ye good old times here – Bacchus is easily the most beautiful thing in Birmingham.
Burlington Arcade, Birmingham, B2 4JH
