1. Head to British Summer Time, the festival that's a lot easier to do than Glastonbury
Glasto looked fun and all, but all those people covered in mud trudging through train stations on Monday with thousand yard stares and and a curious smell made us realise that watching it at home was probably the more sensible option. If you're after a more manageable festival, look no further than the British Summer Time gigs at Hyde Park this weekend. There's still tickets for all three (£60 but, compare that to what you'd pay for a weekend festival). On Friday it's Massive Attack, Ghospoet, Warpaint and Patti Smith, Saturday it's Florence, Kendrick Lamar, Jamie XX and Cat Power and Sunday it's Carole King.
British Summer Time, Hyde Park. Gigs until July 9th. Get tickets here.
2. Indulge yourself with Patsy and Eddie
Ab Fab is back and, although this new, chock-a-block with famous cameos new film is unlikely to capture the same magic as the telly show, it's no doubt set to be a glorious way in which to spend a few hours. Be really basic and sneak in a bottle of Lambrini drink with your gal pals. Gross. But also fun.
Absolutely Fabulous, in cinemas nationwide Friday 1st July.
3. Get to see some of the most exciting new creative talents at Manchester's Fringe
Feel like heading down a creative rabbithole this weekend? A grand plan. Head to Manchester for the first weekend of the month long fringe festival showcasing the best of the best of amateur theatre and comedy from around the UK. The best part? Pretty much everything is under a tenner.
The Greater Manchester Fringe Festival, 1-31st July. More info here.
4. See the films that really matter at London's East End Film Festival
Want to see what's really at the cutting edge of new filmmaking? Head down to the East End Film Festival located in (yep, you guessed it) London's East End. From screenings to panel discussions, Q+As with directors and actors to galas and parties, there's plenty on to get you excited about film. Watch out for The Hard Stop, a documentary that follows two of Mark Duggan's friends as they seek justice for the death that started the London Riots and Sonita, a film about an Afghan refugee now living in Iran who refused her arranged marriage and opted instead to be a rapper.
East End Film Festival, until July 6th. More info and tickets here.
5. Add another outdoor summer boozing spot to your overflowing list with London's Night Tales
Thought summer pop ups were all open by now? Nah mate. At the erm, hipper end of town we've got Night Tales, Hackney Wick's (it was in Shoreditch last year) newest night spot. There's an old school diner, cocktails galore and a huge terrace to hang out and watch the day go by on. There's Rudie's selling jerk goods, the Slice Guys doing pizza, Coco Rum shack doing cocktails and Singha beer doing beer. And, it's only £3 to get in.
Night Tales, open every Saturday to Aug 27th. More info here.
