Get fit and channel Takeshi's Castle at London Rat Race
Because at the weekend you deserve something a bit more fun fitness-wise than just roaming up and down the gym floor trying to figure out which machine will give you maximum output from minimum input. London's Rat Race is basically a big old game of Total Wipeout (admit it, you've always wanted a go on that obstacle course) which means it is obvs a workout AND also, by competiting, you raise money for homeless charity Shelter. Which is nice. Raise £200 and they'll refund your entry fee.
London Rat Race, ExCel London, Saturday August 13th. More info here.
Become a cocktail connoissieur at Manchester's cocktail festival
OK FINE have an excuse to get pissed sample excellent cocktails all weekend then. With Manchester's Loves Cocktails festival, you purchase yourself one magic wristband for a tenner and pick yourself up £4.50 cocktails all over Manchester. There's loads of events, workshops, parties and competitions to swindle free cocktails from too.
Manchester Loves Cocktails, August 8th-14th. More info here.
Get fed by two very handsome chaps at Terry & George's Leeds pop-up
Terry is a chef that used to work at La Gavroche. George is the singer in band One Night Only, Burberry model and boyfriend to blogger babe Megan Ellaby. Together, the two have created a pop up restaurant business and a nifty cookbook to go alongside it. For the next two weekends they're taking over Lambert's Yard in Leeds for an eight (yes eight) course meal that comes in at the princely sum of £35. Get down there.
Terry & George 'Feeding Friends' Pop Up Restaurant at Lambert's Yard, 11th-12th August. More info here.

Thursday sees Titanic (brave choice), while Friday brings The Devil Wears Prada and Muriel's Wedding. Tickets are £25 and they get you free Pimms, popcorn and 10% off Benefit products.

Get over your Stranger Things addiction by watching The Get Down
Eight episodes? C'mon Netflix, we got through Stranger Things in like, a night - don't underestimate just how much free time we've actually got on our hands. Luckily, just behind Stranger Things comes new original series The Get Down about a group of teenagers growing up in the Bronx during the birth of hip hop. It's created by Baz Luhrmann, so it's bound to be good. Oh, and it's got Jaden Smith in it so, it's bound to be... something.
The Get Down, streaming on Netflix from August 12th
