London's biggest and best party attracts grumbles every year but, chances are, you'll have a billboard time. If you haven't been before then it's essential that you check out our guide for Notting Hill Carnival virgins which essentially reminds you to wear sensible footwear, stock up on booze and cash *before * you reach West London and, most importantly, prepare for a day with limited toilet access.

Get Craft At The Etsy Pop-Up In London

Notebooks by Nikki Strange

Head up to the roof garden at Oxford Street's John Lewis this weekend and you can shop Etsy IRL thanks to the 20 traders who have taken their wares offline and into IRL. Check out stuff from Nikki Strange (dreamy palm print notebooks, iPhone cases cards for sale), very cool jewellery from Wild Fawn Jewellery and awesome geometric designs from Pasinga.

Etsy Pops Up on the John Lewish Roof Top Garden, 25th August-29th August. More information here.

Go And Eat All Of The Food At The Sussex And The World Food Market

Sussex and the world market

Spend a day or two hunting and gathering your way around various stalls on the Hove Lawns at the Sussex and the World Food Market this weekend. Free sampling is obviously an essential part of any food festival and, the several bars they also have on site mean you're more likely to get the confidence to perform your sampling well. It's more likely to make you buy a £17 bottle of apricot kernel oil infused with chilli and nutmeg but that's the risk you take.

Sussex and the World Food Market, 27th-29th August. More information here.

Laugh Your Socks Off At The Lonely Island film

If you've ever whiled away an evening chuckling at Motherlover, I'm On A Boat, or Jack Sparrow (feat. Michael Bolton) then do yourself a favour and go and see Popstar: Never Stop, Never Stopping this weekend. The Lonely Island boys play a now defunct boyband who split after one of them (Andy Samberg) got too big for his boots and went full Timberlake with his solo career. Now some horrible mash-up of Bieber/Chris Brown/every other male popstar with ego issues, this spoof documentary follows him as he launches his difficult second album. Funny doesn't even begin to cover it.

Popstar: Never Stop, Never Stopping is in cinemas from August 26th
