Where: The Playerin London's Soho

For: Cosy cocktails in an infamous London venue.

What are people saying?: 'The room is wonderfully dark and moody, with a dash of retro Vegas chic. The cocktail list is a thing of beauty too, featuring drinks like the award winning Mexican Breakfast. A range of classic drinks are offered with an airline style upgrade system, and you can choose your spirit base from a range of economy, business and first class options.' - World'sBestBars.com

What are we saying?: With it's unassuming front door you'd be forgiven for walking right past The Player no matter how many years you've spent frequenting the bars of Soho. You've probably heard of it - it's been a staple on London's nightlife scene since it opened it's doors in '98 - but finding it's another matter. Inside, we're big fans of the 70s decor, knowledgeable waiters and the quirky collection of drinks.

When would you go?: Date night, Deffos. Not only do you look like you know a thing or two for introducing your date to London's worst kept secret, the venue's intimate tables for two are perfect for leaning across to er, 'hear better'.

What should we drink?: It's all about the Anejo Highball. Served in a tall glass with lots and lots of Bacardi 8 year old rum, it's a deliciously refreshing drink that manages to be sharp and sweet at the same time. If you fancy making one at home, we've got a great recipe here.

Can you get food?: Yup, it's nibbles a go go with slider burgers (go for the chorizo- trust us) and mini tacos.

How about the loos?: Perfectly nice, with an overwhelming scent of incense.

Is it worth the cash?: Absolutely. Cocktails start from £7.50 and the larger sharing ones from £16. The waiters are super attentive and the cocktails really are a step above cheaper counterparts.
