Kate and Will

It was a good five minutes that King Charles and Camilla sat waiting outside Westminster Abbey before walking into the church for the beginning of Charles long-awaited coronation. The confusing part? Kate Middleton and Prince William weren’t there yet. Indeed, the new King and Queen began the ceremony before Kate and Will were even spotted arriving at the church, many now wondering if Kate and William were accidentally late for the King’s coronation.

Were Kate and William late for the coronation?

So, what’s the deal – were they late? Most likely not, as Kate and William arrived walking behind Charles and Camilla, it shows that they were part of the traditional procession intended to walk into Westminster Abbey when they did. Given Prince William is next in line for the throne, it makes sense that he and Kate would be part of the procession as opposed to arriving ahead of time with the rest of the guests.

Prince George and Louis also played a role in the procession, holding Charles robes as they walked into the church. You will’ve seen Harry walk in, quite awkwardly without Meghan Markle, but alongside cousins Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Of course, the events haven’t stopped people assuming Kate and William were, in fact, late for the coronation. Given how long Charles and Camilla sat outside the church, some even believe they were stuck in traffic (unlikely given the route to the church was emptied for the royal family).

Whether or not Charles and Camilla did have to wait a few moments for Kate and William to arrive, it’s all in a day’s work for a family so used to these momentous royal occasions.
