Life has become a Jane Campion TV show, as footage inside the Australian Senate shows Australian Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young calling all out all the blokes in the chamber who've said horrible things about her.
'I've sat in this chamber for weeks and weeks, for months and heard the disgusting slurs and attacks coming from a particular group in this place,' she told her fellow senators, continuing: 'And I for one am sick of it and I know many of my female colleagues on all sides of politics are sick of it.'
'And I will name you because you are not fit to be in this chamber, you're not fit to represent your constituents and you're not fit to call yourselves men.'
She then called out all the different senators who'd been rotten to her. Barry O'Sullivan, Senator Anning, Senator Benadi, Senator Leyonhjelm, before concluding: 'Real men don't insult and threaten women. They don't slut shame them and they don't attack them and make them feel bullied in their workplace.'
This is not the first time allegations of rank misogyny have been made in Australian politics. When Julia Gillard, the former Prime Minister of Australia, was in office, an opposition party's dinner party served up what the menu called 'Julia Gillard Kentucky Fried Quail - Small Breasts, Big Thighs & A Big Red Box'. Her speech against misogyny, widely known as the 'misogyny speech', Gillard responded to allegations she was supporting a misogynist by explaining why opposition leader, Tony Abbott (current Australian PM), was a bigger misogynist.
