If you're heartily sick of politics then you're not alone. We're all in the same boat. But, however much political fatigue you're suffering from, there's no excuse for forgetting to register to vote. And tonight at 11.59 is the deadline to do so.

If you've voted previously, you only need to re-register if you've changed your name or address since the last election. If you have done that, you need to click here and enter your details. It only takes a few minutes and it should mean that you're registered to vote in time for the election on 12 December.

What if I don't know who to vote for?

You can read about the Labour manifesto, the Tory manifesto and the Liberal Democrats manifesto to help you make up your mind.

I hate them all.

There is a common feeling in the UK that there is 'no good person' to vote for. If that's how you feel, then it's still important that you vote. You can spoil your ballot (which means you put more than one cross on it), as a protest. The number of protest votes is counted and politicians take note of it, so it's not a total waste.

Can I vote If I'm not 18 yet?

If you are not 18 today but will be by 12 December then yes, you can and should vote. You can register now. Happy Birthday!

Can I vote if I have no fixed address?

Yes absolutely. You can use an address of somewhere that you spend regular time. Read more about it here.

Can I vote if I'm a Commonwealth citizen living in the UK?

Yes, and you should. Check that you're from a qualifying Commonwealth nation, but the list is long so chances are you will be.

Can I vote if I'm Irish living in the UK?

Yep. As long as you register.

Can I vote if I live abroad?

Yes, but you need to get a postal vote ASAP, otherwise you won't be able to. The deadline is 5pm on the 26th November (today).

What if I'm on holiday?

Lucky you. You can get a postal vote, or a proxy vote. You can apply for a proxy until the 4 December so you've got a little while.

Basically the most important thing is that you register by midnight tonight. So click here, fill it in, feel smug about taking an active part in the democratic process. Bam.
