Prince Andrew has finally broken his silence on his infamous friendship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, in a BBC special which will be aired on Saturday 16th November at 9pm.
Following ongoing speculation about his relationship with Epstein, Prince Andrew was interviewed by Newsnight's Emily Maitlis at Buckingham Palace. 'Prince Andrew & the Epstein Scandal' will apparently address much of the ongoing scandal.
The BBC hasn't released any trailer of the interview - but Maitlis told the press today that it was a 'no holds barred interview' with 'no questions vetted' by Andrew or palace officials. So presumably it will make uncomfortable viewing, and Maitlis will grill him about the truth of the situation in depth.
Andrew will apparently be confronted with allegations made by Epstein's 'slave' Virginia Roberts that she was flown to London on the American's private jet, nicknamed the 'Lolita Express', for sex with the prince.
In a statement issued by the royal family's press office, the Duke of York denied having had any involvement in any sexual impropriety, however the interview will be the first time that he has addressed them directly and in person.
Asked if the Duke of York would respond to the news of Epstein's death, a Buckingham Palace spokesman said recently: 'This relates to proceedings in the United States, to which The Duke of York is not a party.
'Any suggestion of impropriety with underage minors is categorically untrue.'
While the truth of Prince Andrew's relationship with Epstein, and all the hideous things that Epstein did, is unclear, what we do know is that the interview is going to be compulsive viewing.
Prince Andrew & The Epstein Scandal is on BBC 2 at 9PM on Saturday 15th November.
