If you go down to the zoo today you’re in for a big surprise. Chico, a yellow-crowned amazon parrot who lives in Lincolnshire zoo, has been drawing in the crowds by belting out Beyonce’s ballad If I Were A Boy.

Chico shot to stardom last week after the park posted a video of him singing the song on their Facebook and it quickly went viral. Diva requests for white roses and champagne in his cage should be expected any day now.

Lincolnshire Wildlife Park CEO Steve Nichols told the SWNS news agency: ‘After more than 25 years working with these amazing birds, they still never cease to amaze me. Who'd have ever thought that a parrot would cause social distancing problems due to being so popular.’

And before you accuse him of having a one hit wonder, Chico can reportedly sing other classics, including Crazy by Gnarls Barkley, Poker Face by Lady Gaga and Katy Perry's 2010 song Firework. I feel a collaboration in the air.

It really makes you look at your pets differently, doesn't it. My cat can't even muster Baby One More Time.

The world’s shock at his talent shows how judgemental we’ve been about animals up until now: just because they have webbed feet or a beak it doesn’t mean they can’t headline Glastonbury one day. Shame on us. And watch out, Bey.
