Money all spent after the festive season? Sick of trying to make plans for the most over-hyped night of the year?

Whatever your reason for not going out-out, there's plenty on offer, with several programmes and films arriving in time to ring in 2020 from the comfort of the sofa. Here are the best of the best to help say goodbye to 2019.

Good chat...

Start the evening off with Australian drag icon Dame Edna as she presents a star studded evening with guests Sharon Osbourne, Joe Sugg, Rob Rinder and Emily Atack all aboard her yacht, with music from Nile Rodgers and CHIC, starts 9.05pm on BBC One.

Follow this with Graham Norton on his annual New Year’s Show. Sitting on his red couch for the evening is the loveliest man in Hollywood, Tom Hanks, joined by Peaky Blinders and The Irishman actor Stephen Graham, Strictly’s Mobi Mabuse and new music from Melanie C.

Chat shows not your thing?

Ring in the New Year with some of music’s biggest stars as Jools Holland hosts his annual Hootenanny. With the release of his new album, Heavy is the Head, Stormzy joins the line up with La Roux, who will be previewing new music from her upcoming album, Supervision. They’re joined by Stereophonics, Rick Astley and folk music group Joseph on BBC Two.

And the rest...

Finish off the night by tuning into the fireworks on the river Thames with Craig David as he counts us down into 2020 on BBC One. If you're still up, or arriving home late, Point Break is showing on BBC One from 2am and offers an always-welcome glimpse of vintage Keanu Reeves.

Have a binge...

We know Christmas is officially over, but it can't hurt to keep hold of it for a few more days Amazon Prime boasts a range of romantic Christmas classics like The Holiday and Love Actually and country music star Kacey Musgraves has her very own Christmas show exclusively on Prime.

But if you’re in need of a festive cleanse there’s a selection of series including the newly released third season of the Marvellous Mrs Maisel.

Netflix are offering some cheesy flicks like A Christmas Prince: Royal Baby, Holiday in the Wild and The Knight before Christmas. If this isn’t your thing, then creepy stalker series You returns for a second season as Penn Badgley chooses his next victim, this time in LA. If thrillers aren’t your thing than why not check out the latest fantasy drama The Witcher, starring Henry Cavill. Expect fight scenes and peroxide white hair.

Pulling an all-nighter into New Year’s Day?

Start the year off with brand new Doctor Who on from 6.55pm on BBC One, The Great Christmas Bake Off is back for a special edition with the cast of Derry Girls cooking up some delightful trimmings. Brand new series Dracula is on from 9pm on BBC One. If vampires aren’t your thing then tune into the second series of Bancroft on ITV from 9pm.

But if you’re looking to get out of the house, then some of the films out at Christmas will still be around: Little Women with Saoirse Ronan and Laura Dern and Cats with new star Francesca Hayward and Dame Judi Dench.
