New Year’s Eve is the busiest night of the year, especially in London. But if you no longer want to watch the fireworks on your television, where can you go to watch them? The official firework display - organised by City Hall - is sold out. But there are options.
Many of London's parks, including Primrose Hill, Hampstead Heath and even Richmond Park, are favourites thanks to their 360 degree views of London and their views of the main event.
There are many rooftop bars along the Thames, so no matter the direction you’ll have a beautiful view of the city and direct sight of the show. If you want to start your night with a champagne reception followed by an open bar and live music, then book tickets (£185) for 12th Knot at Sea Containers on South Bank.
However, if you fancy being as high up as the fireworks, then experience the show from the highest bar in Western Europe and book a table at Gong Bar in The Shard. For £180, you get a welcome glass of champagne and unparalleled views of the London skyline.
For those who can party for 12 hours straight and want a 360˚ view of London then get a ticket to the Skybar at Millbank Tower, Westminster. When there you will get a glass of champagne on arrival, global street food all night long and you can order cocktails from their walking mixologist. With live DJs playing on multiple floors, you’re bound to find something you can dance to. (£196).
If you want something a little different to a traditional cocktail bar, why not try one of the many boat parties that will be happening up and down the Thames. Finesse is hosting their sell out New Year’s Eve party in the Royal Docks. For £500 you and up to six friends will get your own table with two bottles of rosé, 2 bottles of spirits and 2 bottles of prosecco. What more could you want?
Alternatively, you could party on one of London’s best rated floating bars. Bar&Co are mooring their boat in Temple Pier only a few short miles east from the firework display itself, you’ll be drinking champagne practically underneath the London Eye. After the fireworks have ended dance in the New Year to the sound of house, dance and salsa, played by their on-board DJs.
