We’ve all said things we regret when drunk, but not on national TV

Most people who overcome a problematic relationship with any substance — food, booze or drugs — or behaviour will have a story of when they hit rock bottom. What this looks like is different for everyone, of course, but roughly translated, it’s the moment when you realise you have a problem. For Meghan Fox, this moment was extremely public — because it happened at the Golden Globes.

In a recent interview with Who What Wear, Fox describes how at the 2009 awards she was sat on a table with Blake Lively and all three Jonas brothers. 'At the Golden Globes they always put those giant bottles of Moet champagne at the middle of the table,' she explains. 'I went through multiple glasses of that!' she says with a wry smile, before adding: 'Now I don’t drink and this is why. I was belligerent and said a bunch of sh*t I shouldn’t have said.'

'I got in a lot of trouble for whatever I said on the red carpet at this event,' she continues, 'I don’t remember why but I know that I did. You can look that up.'

TMZ shared footage of the interview in question, where Fox can be seen using an offensive slur about transgender people, and telling the camera she feels 'painfully insecure.'

The interviewer then asks her where her then fiancé, 90210 actor, Brian Austin Green, was, and Fox responds. 'He doesn't want to be here, he doesn’t want to be my date.' She continues: 'He’s a man, he has an ego.' The reporter says 'so he’s watching on TV?' To which Fox replies, 'I think he’s probably working on music — I don’t think he cares.'

Asked about her diet and exercise routine, Fox says “I do have a 22 inch waist,” but goes on to say “I basically starve myself,” before quickly following this up with an unconvincing “I’m kidding!” Yikes.

Her comments about her now ex-husband can’t have hurt too much, as they subsequently married and had three children — though they have recently divorced.

Fox is now Insta official with rapper Machine Gun Kelly.

It’s not hard to see why Fox would cringe over the interview, but to hear that she took it as a prompt to stop drinking can only be a positive thing, right? We’ve all been the person that says something they don’t mean when drunk, but good on Fox for making a healthy decision off the back of it.
