Congratulations are in order for Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling!

The Love Island presenter, 35, and her husband, 33, confirmed the arrival of their first child together, a baby girl, on Laura’s Instagram this morning. Laura posted a picture of herself cradling the little one alongside the caption ‘Thanks for all the kind messages at this time. We are in love x.’

They're yet to announce their daughter’s name and haven’t said when she was born, so we'll just have to wait patiently to hear all the details.

In an excerpt from her new book No One Can Change Your Life Except For You, Laura revealed she was having a girl, writing: ‘There’s a new chapter coming in my life in the form of a baby girl currently growing inside me. And that scares the s*** out of me.’

She added: ‘I once swallowed a bug and freaked out there was a live bug inside me. A live human is a whole new level of freaking out but I am excited because there's a lot of good in the world, there's a lot of potential.'

At the beginning of March, TV presenter Lorraine accidentally revealed the gender of Laura and Iain’s baby while Laura was on her show to discuss her new book.

Lorraine let slip: ‘This book has come from personal experiences, it’s lessons that you’ve learned along the way, isn’t it? And also, advice that you want to pass on to your baby girl.’

Laura quickly replied: ‘Well… to my baby. Yeah, it wasn’t necessarily written when I knew I was pregnant, it’s not about pregnancy, I’ll tell you that now. There’s lots of things in there that I’ve picked up over the years.’

It’s one of a few announcements around their personal life Laura and Iain have tried to do on their own terms. Laura had a miscarriage in 2018 and has said it took her a year to be able to speak about the loss. Her and Iain secretly married at Dublin's City Hall last November, and they announced their pregnancy in December, six months in.

‘I’ve always tried to be protective over the personal side of my life,’ she wrote at the time. ‘A lot of things are just for me and my loved ones and we’ve chosen not to share publicly.’

She went on: ‘I want to now share good news as it’s our news to share – and, I’m gonna be honest, because it’s starting to look like my lockdown beer belly is out of control. Iain and I are expecting a baby early 2021.’
