It's hardly news that crash diets aren't good for anyone. They're needlessly stressful, not very fun - and more seriously, losing a lot of weight in a short amount of time can lead to a dangerous relationship with food, and/or damage your health to boot. It can also encourage weight gain further down the line, as it can also slow your metabolism too.
Luckily, over the past few years, it has been widely accepted by society that to lose weight healthily, it's sensible to go about it in a longer-time frame.
This has, however, been seemingly ignored by the oldest Kardashian sister::a[Kourtney]{href='https://graziadaily.co.uk/celebrity/news/travis-barker-kourtney-kardashian/' target='_blank' rel='nofollow}. noopener noreferrer'}(It is written by nutritionist Cara Clark - and small print on the website states the article is not meant to be substitute for medical advice, and that it's the author's opinion only.)
The advice on the actual site is nothing new or groundbreaking - it suggests getting creative with meals, waking up at 5.30am and drinking lemon water, eating eggs with veggies, eating salmon, salad and smoothies - but with that headline it does stress that, if you follow it, you'll feel your best/lose weight in a short amount of time.
Obviously, it's not exactly surprising that the Kardashians are perpetuating unrealistic beauty standards. But with Kourtney posting the link to her 149million followers, with a lot of those bound to be impressionable, it's putting out a message that you need to lose weight, and you need to do it quickly. That you need to change your body fast, because it isn't good enough. (And plus, seeing that headline come up in your Instagram stories could be incredibly triggering if you already have a bad relationship with food.)
Kourtney set up Poosh in 2019, and it was quickly compared to the leader in the celebrity wellness market, Gwyneth Paltrow's successful, and incredibly bizarre, Goop. It's a blog-slash-shop (meaning there's a financial motivation behind those articles). Poosh is, according to her website, 'the modern guide to living your best life'. And the site's 'mission is to educate, motivate, create, and curate a modern lifestyle, achievable by all'. But we should all know by now that losing weight quickly shouldn't be in the guidelines for anybody living their best life.
