Halloween is just around the corner - but newly-engaged Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker have already dressed up. The pair - in what they probably thought was an ultra-cool homage to rock 'n' roll - each uploaded a gallery of photos dressed up as The Sex Pistols' Sid Vicious and girlfriend Nancy Spungen. To emulate the couple, Kourtney donned a bleach blonde curly wig, and Travis even covered his countless tattoos with make-up for the look. Kourtney bleakly captioned the pics with: 'Till death do us part. '

Kourtney and Travis might be acting how you'd expect a couple of teenagers to - for goodness sake, they uploaded a video snogging at Disneyland and commented about wanting each other's skulls - but at their age, they should know better than glamourising and romanticising Sid and Nancy's awful tale.

Especially when some of their social media followers are young, and might not necessarily know the story behind the pair.

Even Kourtney's sister, Khloe Kardashian{ =nofollow}, didn't know who the pair were dressing as - and wrote in the comments: 'Am I stupid for not knowing who you guys are lol. I guess everyone is about to say something very obvious in the comments. 3,2,1…..'

No, Khloe isn't 'stupid' for not knowing who Sid and Nancy are, but Kourtney and Travis are reckless for dressing as the couple. The costume couldn't be in more poor taste. And they really shouldn't have done it.

For those who don't know, the story is nothing but tragic. A relationship which was marred by domestic violence and drug use, Nancy died at the age of 20 in 1978, with a bellboy finding her dead - with stab wounds - in a hotel bathroom. The bassist, 21, was later charged with second degree murder - but just four months after Nancy died, he died of a drug overdose while he was on bail.

It's not cute - the story is desperately sad - and it's certainly not something to glamourise for Instagram. With over 150million followers between them - on Insta alone - their audience is simply too big not to think about what they post. Like, really, did momager Kris Jenner approve this?
