In this week’s edition of ‘Joss Stoneis out of touch with reality’ the singer/songwriter has made comments that have irked a few people (again). Speaking from her luxury home in the Bahamas, the millionaire told wellness guru Wim 'The Iceman' Hoff that ADHD is 'bullshit’ and that people suffering with depression are capable of curing themselves without medical intervention.

Chatting on her podcast, A Cuppa Happy, she explains she 'grows tired' of people discussing mental health problems. They talk about different ways to approach conditions such as depression and anxiety.

'This makes me sound really terrible but I kind of grow tired of hearing people go "I've got anxiety, I've got depression,"’ the 33-year-old says.

‘If somebody is upset about something it's probably because something upsetting has happened, it’s not because you have this ailment that you need to take drugs for.

'That makes me sound incredibly insensitive but you have to decide that's not who you are. You have to take that on as you.'

First of all, we weren’t aware Joss had retrained as a doctor but here she is dishing out unsolicited medical advice which is insulting, ill-informed and dismisses people’s suffering. Coming from your average Joe, these comments are tactless and insensitive, but from a millionaire in her mansion on a tropical island it highlights just how inconsiderate she must be.

Mental health is complex, mental health issues are common and this pandemic has created huge problems or exacerbated existing issues for millions around the world, meaning the timing of her speech is even more dumbfounding.

We weren’t aware Joss had retrained as a doctor but here she is dishing out unsolicited medical advice which is insulting, ill-informed and dismisses people’s suffering.

Her comments come just a few weeks after she pissed off just about everybody when she told Good Morning Britain that ‘happiness is a choice’.

‘We have a lot of opportunity to be happy and we don't always take it,’ she said in August.

'Every person I've spoken to so far [on the podcast] has flagged that we have choice, and I don't think everybody truly feels that way – I think some people genuinely feel that they don't have it. And that is a total myth'

She added: 'We do have choice in mostly every direction, unless we're enslaved and someone's taken that choice away from you, or you're in prison and you don't have a choice to walk outside.

'But, mentally, we have little choices that we make as we walk along in this life, and that is for every single person. That's comforting, really. It's very freeing.'

Joss Stone might be ‘tired’ of people discussing anxiety and depression during a pandemic, but perhaps we’re tired of people with huge platforms who are out of touch with reality broadcasting hurtful views for millions to hear.
