It’s always a sob-inducing moment when someone leaves a pop group. Geri’s dramatic exit from the Spice Girls! Robbie absconding to Glasto for a rager when he left Take That! In 2021, it was Jesy Nelson’s departure from Little Mix that was cause for tears.
Imagine a pop group are the best of friends, but Jesy has revealed in a new interview that she’s not actually speaking to the LIttle Mix girls at the moment. head exploding emoji
Jesy quit the band in December 2020 after nine years to focus on her mental health - and on the brink of her solo career, she’s very much focusing on herself, which is a positive thing to do.
'I haven’t spoken to the girls,' she told Glamour. 'It is weird because for so many years we were as close as sister, together every hour of the day for weeks, sharing beds, laughing, crying, just 24/7 the four of us together and then nothing.'
She also spoke candidly about not having met Leigh-Anne or Perrie’s kids: 'I’ve sent a few texts, but that’s it. I can’t explain it, it’s like there has to be this distance.'
That said, it’s not forever forever that Jesy’s not going to hang out with her LIttle Mix girlies.
'Hopefully at some point in the future we can all come back together,' she said. I love them. They are my sisters in so many ways, but for the time being we just don’t talk.'
Look how many Spice Girls reunions there have been - we’ve lost count. Same for Take That, in whatever iteration takes their fancy. Little Mix will be back one day…
