We Don’t Need To Hear About Elon Musk ‘Living Below The Poverty Line’

Just a reminder that he is the richest man in the world.

We are always prepared to be shocked by Grimes and Elon Musk. And yesterday, the pair - who famously called their first child X Æ A-12 - revealed in a cover interview with Vanity Fair that they welcomed a secret baby in December last year. (Called Exa Dark Sideræl, by the way.)

But there was another surprise revealed in the interview: Elon Musk really does not act like he is worth $221.1 billion. Speaking to the publication, Grimes revealed that one of the things which annoyed her was his lifestyle - which is far less glamorous than you'd expect. In fact, the singer said there was one time they were living together and the Tesla founder refused to buy a new mattress - despite the fact he's the richest man in the world.

Elon had previously sold off several of his California properties, amounting to more than $100million. And the couple then lived together in a house which Grimes felt unsafe in, as there was no security and people were able to film them. 'Bro does not live like a billionaire,' she said. 'Bro lives at times below the poverty line. To the point where I was like, can we not live in a very insecure $40,000 house? Where the neighbors, like, film us, and there’s no security, and I’m eating peanut butter for eight days in a row?'

Don't get us wrong, Elon can use his money however he wants (apparently, all of his money is going to his SpaceX Mars programme, to get humans on the planet) but we don't need to hear about him 'living under the poverty line', pretending to not have any money, or forcing his partner to live off the same food stuff for days in a row. Especially not someone who is richer than Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates. In 2022, we don't need Elon Musk's poverty cosplay. It's offensive to those who are actually struggling, and genuinely can't afford to change their mattresses.
