There's nothing quite like an election to get the meme-wagon going. And just when all the golden Rishi-in-the-rain and Farage-milkshake content was coming to a sad end, the US presidential election has provided a fresh wave of meme-worthy content to keep us satisfied. Although it doesn't take place until 5 November, it's already shaping up to be quite an election.

First, we had Joe Biden announcing he was dropping out of the 2024 US presidential race on a Sunday that just happened to coincide with national ice cream day. Tactical? The internet thinks so. After that, Charli XCX said Kamala Harris is 'BRAT' - which is basically the biggest compliment you can receive in 2024. Kamala's campaigns seems to have embraced the term, updating her social media profile on X to the neon-green aesthetic of the album cover. As for her donning the iconic BRAT white tank top and a Bic lighter? Watch this space.

Then, there's been a whole wave of memes associating Kamala Harris with a coconut tree. This stems from a speech she gave in 2023, where she stressed that, in addition to focusing on younger generations, people also need to be aware of what their community needs, including their parents, grandparents, or teachers.

'My mother used to — she would give us a hard time sometimes, and she would say to us: "I don’t know what’s wrong with you young people. You think you just fell out of a coconut tree?"' she said. 'You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you.'

Without further ado, our roundup of the best US election memes so far...
