Would you believe us if we said that there was a way you could work out AND catch up on sleep at the same time? Well get excited, as there’s a new 45 min acrobatic workout that’s taking off called ‘anti-gravity cocooning’, originally developed by American fitness companies Antigravity Fitness and Crunch and it’s legit ground-breaking stuff.

Currently taking New York by storm, the class consists of being suspended in sling-style hammocks before spending 20 minutes gently stretching, followed by some ‘guided relaxation’, which includes lying out in the hammocks, arms crossed mummy style – all against a backdrop of mood lighting and soft music.

Okay let’s get this right, you can tone up, get a massage, plus catch up on some Zzz’s swaddled in a warm cozy hammock without moving a muscle? If that didn’t already sound amazing, apparently there’s ACTUAL added benefits too!

According to Justin Flexen, regional manager at Crunch, the New York gym which offers the classes, there’s other additional health perks aside from the bonus power nap. Apparently ‘cocooning’ regularly could help increase your energy levels, mental clarity and a way of getting in meditation making it the perfect before work work-out or one to squeeze into your lunch break. Plus you don’t have to have to be of a certain fitness level to give it a go, so whether you’re the workout queen or like us, haven’t set foot inside a gym since New Year’s, no probs, because literally anyone can take part.

Now all we need is for Antigravity Cocooning to hurry up and cross the pond to the UK!
