By now you’ll no doubt have heard of Songdrop, the music streaming site and app that brings together the music you listen to on Soundcloud and YouTube together in one handy playlist. Brittney Bean, it’s creator spoke to us this week about how to set up your own tech company and – while we were there – we asked her what the five most important apps she's got on her phone are. Here’s what she said...
‘Citymapper is my number one. Definitely Citymapper, I probably use that the most.’
‘Simple note is on every single one of my devices. It syncs up, so I can take notes everywhere and they appear everywhere else, so I use it to keep my to-do list on all of my laptops and phones and shit. And any kind of notes I take at any meeting or anything I can do it straight onto there, which is pretty good.’
‘Oh my God. This stupid game! It’s ruining my life. So, you start with two’s and then you put two twos together, so it becomes a four, then two fours become and eight, obviously, and you try to get to a tile that becomes 2048.’
‘Slack is the communications tool we use for our team. Its really, really good. It works on laptops and on mobiles and iPads and stuff. It’s essentially the way we can all chat to each other if we’re not in the office. Or sometimes we do it when we are in the office staring at each other, it’s, like, ‘Why are we having conversations on Slack when we can just talk to each other?’ But it logs everything and you can direct message people on the team and set up chat rooms related to specific subjects. It’s essentially how we keep ourselves organised, because a lot of the time, people work form home or from other countries. It keeps everything in one place its really really good.’
‘I don’t want to self promote my own app in the top-five category. [We assured Brittany she can totally pick her own app and that whenever we’re clever enough to make an app of our very own we'll be promoting it all over the shop.] Well, then, fuck – Songdrop it is. My profile is just my name, just Brittney Bean. And then anything kind of new that I listen to is in there, and there’s random playlists and things.’
