It's back, you guys! Made In Chelsea has returned to our screens in all its glory. And, as a result, also back are Made In Chelsea Mondays – that glorious time of the week where you pile yourself into a living room full of girls (and reluctant boys) to watch the latest installment of what might just be the most highbrow television show our generation has ever been responsible for. Here’s how to take your low-key Made In Chelsea Monday night and catapult it into the dizzying realms of Sloanesville, and transform it into one of those weird parties they always have on the show where they play Bastille on repeat and no 0ne looks like they're having any fun at all…
The Drink
A little something sparkling never goes amiss dah-ling. Crack out your best prosecco and make nice with the bellini – obviously it looks best when it’s being served to your guests on silver platters by a member of the underclasses.
Here's a recipe:
Ingredients
4 parts Martini & Rossi Prosecco
1 part sugar syrup
4 white peaches (can use peach juice)
Some peach puree (peel and blend peaches, strain and refrigerate until cold)
Instructions
-
Mix 2 parts peach puree with one parts sugar syrup.
-
Add about 20ml of the peach puree mix to your champagne flute.
-
Gently pour prosecco into the glass. You want to leave the peach puree undisturbed at the bottom of the glass at this stage.
-
Stir to mix the peach and prosecco well.
The Food
A full meal is absolutely not an option. Have you ever seen anyone on the show stay long enough in a restaurant without storming out to finish a meal? No. Canapés are the only way you're going to get a bite to eat before you have to make a sharp exit when an old flame enterd the room with a glass of water in hand.
We say, skip the savory treats and head straight for dessert – here's a super-tasty recipe for mini cheesecakes that's got none of the fiddly bits we assumed making canapés would entail. Just tray bake a whole bunch then cut up into little bits.
Ingredients
250g ginger snap biscuits
100g butter, melted
250g ricotta
250g cream cheese
200g soured cream
3 large eggs
250g caster sugar
1 tbsp cornflour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 lemon, finely grated rind and juice
150ml double cream
2-4 tbsp lemon curd or fresh raspberries, to decorate
Method
-
Heat the oven to 160C/140C fan/gas 3. Line the base and sides of a 20x30cm shallow cake tin with baking parchment.
-
Put the ginger biscuits into a food processor and whizz to very fine crumbs. Add the melted butter, using the pulse, until well mixed. Tip the mixture into the tin and spread out evenly. Using the back of a metal spoon, press the mixture down firmly.
-
Clean the food processor bowl and add the ricotta, cream cheese, soured cream, eggs, caster sugar, cornflour, vanilla extract, lemon rind and juice. Whizz until smooth, then pour the mixture into the cake tin. Bake in the oven for about 40 mins until the mixture is lightly set all over. Remove and allow to cool to room temperature.
-
Whisk the cream to soft peaks. Spread thinly over the top of the cheesecake. Chill the cheesecake overnight.
-
To serve, remove the cheesecake from the tin and peel the paper from the sides. Cut into 48 small squares or halve again to make 96 rectangles. Arrange on a serving plate. Put the lemon curd into a small disposable piping bag. Snip off the end and pipe zigzags on the cheesecakes. Alternatively, place a small raspberry on top of each square.
What To Wear
Um HELLO, you’ve got how many clothing lines to choose from? For us, though, it’s less about Jamie Laing’s Candy Kittens range (how much pink can one girl handle, Jamie?) and, instead, we’re coveting Proudlocks’s actually rather cool Serge DeNimes range. Sure, some of it’s a bit too out there for us, but we can definitely get on board with this sweatshirt. And this snake ring. They are for men, though, so go for the small ones.
Also, erm, never knew you needed jeans with different coloured pockets? Thanks to Louise, your dreams can now become a reality.
The Music
**Obvioulsy Andy Jordan’s debut single 'A Whole Lot Of Water' should be played religiously during ad breaks. SO. MANY. EMOTIONS. #Louise.
