Made famous by the mockumentary Summer Heights High, Ja’mie King has got her own spinoff Ja’mie King: Private School Girl which hits our screens on BBC3 tonight - and is well worth a watch. Even Lindsay Lohan thinks so. She went on Australian radio overnight to express her adoration for the programme: ‘I’m obsessed with the show. I’m a huge fan. I would love to appear in it. That would be awesome. I would be Ja’mie’s mentor.'
Turns out this isn't just a Lindsay Lohan pipe dream. Her people have been in touch with creator Chris Lilley. 'I have lots of people contact me,' he's said. 'The ones that have reached out have been Katy Perry, Lindsay Lohan – Ellie Goulding is way into it – she messages. Kylie Jenner likes to post Ja’mie photos in her timeline mand Lindsay Lohan is completely obsessed with the show.' So much so she's even written her dream part. (Of course she has). 'She’s come up with an idea for a character and is pushing to appear in series two as a kind of American exchange student. Who knows if it works for the story then but it seems like she’d be really cool.’
But even if we'll have to wait for a Lindsay Lohan cameo, it's still worth tuning in tonight. This 39-year-old man playing an Australian schoolgirl is pretty ace because:
Ja’mie is very humble and coy
Ja’mie brings realness
Ja’mie is incredibly articulate
She’s insightful
And her insights are, like, totally proportionate
When it comes to gender inequalities, she’s got some solid opinions
Ja'mie King: Private Schoolgirl is on BBC3 at 10pm tonight
