By now you’ve probably maybe watched all of Parks And Recreation on the naughty naughty internet, unless like Leslie Knope, you’re a stickler for the rules. In which case, you’ve probably been waiting for the start of season three tonight in the UK on legal telly for LIKE EVER.
Just in case you’re a complete and total newcomer to the show – it’s fine – we’re human, we all make mistakes. Here’s a quick round up of why the show’s great and you should probably be watching otherwise you're pretty much the silliest person that ever lived.
So what is it? It’s a show, that’s filmed like a documentary – about a Parks Department in small town.
Sounds thrilling. Well obviously it’s not actually about local government is it?
What is it about then? Leslie Knope. Played by Amy Poehler. And her ambitions to make her beloved hometown Pawhnee a better place. Despite the morons she has to deal every day.
Morons? Oh yes. Inherently loveable morons though. There’s Andy Dwyer (Chris Pratt) – ex boyfriend to Leslie’s best friend Anne Perkins (Rashida Jones), who fell down a hole in his back yard - prompting Leslie to start a campaign to get the giant hole made into a park.
Who else? Well she works with Tom Haverford (Aziz Ansari), whose main ambition in life is to be Drake. Or Jay-Z. Or Beyonce. Whatever. He’s basically the main perpetrator of swag in the Midwestern state of Indiana.
Ah a man after our own hearts. Who else? Ron Swanson (Nick Offerman), a fierce believer in small government which renders his job as director of the Parks Department obsolete. Ron also dislikes birthdays, technology, members of the public and his two ex-wives, Tammy 1 and Tammy 2.
Which is worst? Tammy 2. By a mile, but we don’t want to spoil season three for you.
What else is going to happen in season three? Well, without too many spoilers, there’s a super dramatic storyline involving Lil Sebastian.
Lil Sebastian? The town’s Shetland pony. Do keep up.
Obviously. So it’s good then? Yes. It’s hilarious. And it only gets better as it’s goes on.
Parks & Recreation Season three starts 10:30 tonight on BBC4******
