Over the past few months, the kitchen has become central to our lives. It’s where we’ve spent many hours baking bread, rustling up meals (and snacks!) and uncorking yet another bottle of wine. For many of us, it has also become our WFH space.
Spending concentrated time together is a sure-fire way of discovering whether a relationship is working – and the same can be said about the home. Lockdown has either made you appreciate your kitchen all the more or made you realise its faults and shortcomings. If it’s the latter, now’s the time to do something about it, whether it’s a rejuvenating tweak or a total overhaul.
If you want to start from scratch, make the process easy by going to Wickes, which offers a full design-to-installation service. Its stores have a range of kitchens to choose from, from the contemporary to the classic.
This chic Milton Midnight kitchenwith its elegant charcoal navy shade combines the warmth of natural timber with the strength of manufactured materials. This kitchen is part of the Wickes Showroom Kitchen collection, which features 42 high-end styles.
Inspired? Get a free design service to bring your ideas to life, whether its clever storage or branded appliances with special cooking functions. Book an in-store appointment, or if you prefer, Wickes has a new Virtual Design Service that allows you to speak to a design consultant via a video call from the comfort of your home.
Another option is to choose a kitchen from the Ready To Fit collection, with its nine smart designs made for easy assembly, which can be collected or delivered.
And Wickes does more than just kitchen units – it’s also the place for all the finishing touches such as worktops, handles, sinks and taps, as well as accessories to revamp your existing kitchen, which can be fitted as part of your installation.
Its stores carry a huge range of products including tiles, flooring, paint and even lighting. Choose paints from Wickes Paint as well as brands such as Dulux. For tiles, opt for the classic look of Metro tiles, the colour and character of Victorian-style patterned ones or the sleekness of concrete effect. Solid wood flooring includes pale bamboo and mid- tone oak. If you prefer wood effect, choose from porcelain tiles in light to mid oak tones, as well as grey oak, birch and a striking multi-shade look. Pendant lights hung above a kitchen island are great for injecting personality as well as a design element and at Wickes styles include Scandi, vintage, industrial and sleek modern designs.
In fact, at Wickes, there’s everything you need to fall back in love with your kitchen.
Wickes Virtual Design Kitchen Service
While you can still meet a Wickes design consultant in-store, you can now do so virtually too. Book an appointment and you will receive a guide on how it will work, including details on measuring your kitchen. This will be followed by a face-to-face video call with a local design consultant who will walk you round the showroom, before using 3D software to design a kitchen based on both your ideas, and which can be amended together. Samples of materials can also be sent to your home.
If your kitchen is being installed by Wickes, a technical survey will be carried out to check measurements and if any other work needs to be done before the kitchen can be installed. For more information or to book an appointment, see wickes.co.uk/designconsultant
