The Bar That's Set To Become Your Summer Staple Plus The Music Festival To Get You Ready For Summer

If the weather stays this good all weekend then it will be VERY tempting to sack off everything you had planned to embrace the first signs of proper-spring and spend the entire time outside; diving into the fantastic Britishness of men who take their tops off when the temperature is barely pushing 20 degrees while some people are still wearing puffa jackets, dipping your ankles in a local pond that will leave you with a rash for a week later, revelling in the first silky bite of a Mr Whippy aka the best ice cream ever, (yes even better than proper italian gelato you tried on holiday once). If not though, there are plenty of other things to do this weekend. Peep them below.

The outdoor bar that will become your summer spot…

Tasty Treats @ The Paperworks, London

Fri 10 April

If you do want to make the most of the fact that it is light in the evenings (prayer emoji that’s actually a high five emoji should go here) then The Paperworks in Elephant & Castle could be one of your go-to summer spots. Open since the end of last summer it’s braved the long winter but will really come into it’s own when everyone starts to clock off at 5pm to enjoy some warm evening beers. As ever teaming up with Corsica Studios, this Friday get down for Tasty Treats aka music from Elysia and DJ Satori, plus food from Fleishmob - London’s “Austrian street food crew”. Honestly, there’s a street food crew from everywhere…

**The future of fashion… **

*Fashion in Motion @ V&A, London *

Friday 10 April

Back undercover, the V&A continue the excellent Fashion in Motion series with a live presentation from Central Saint Martins star Grace Wales Bonner, who explores her identity between two different cultures in a new menswear collection described as 'Coco Chanel via Lagos.' She says 'the V&A feels like the perfect space to present the hybridity in cultural representation, which I aim to explore through my work. I am really excited about opening up the conversation to a wider audience' so in order to be part of that audience, get down at either 17.00 or 20.15 to catch the show.

Secret 7” @ Somerset House, London

*From Friday 10 April *

Next head from the V&A to Somerset House, where the year’s Secret 7” exhibition kicks off this weekend. Producing and selling one of a kind records and selling them for charity (they’ve raised £105,000 for charity so far) this year’s series supports music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins with art and music contributors including Peter Blake, Yoko Ono, Julian Opie and more. As well as sale day (on May 4, first come first served to buy a v ltd record for the price of £50) there are chances to have your own record cut and talks from music journalists/ professional megafans and video directors. Find out about the whole lot here.

**The film for Nirvana mega-fans… **

Montage Of Heck

*In UK cinemas from Friday 10 April

Music fans will also be first in line for this new Kurt Cobain focussed film Montage Of Heck. Director Brett Morgen was invited into the Nirvana archives by Courtney Love for the documentary, which threads together elements of his notebooks, tapes, videos and new interviews to bring to life Cobain as an ambitious, funny artist and not just a sulky black and white poster on a teenager’s wall. And before you say it’s a rubbish title, it’s taken from from one of Kurt’s audio compilations. * *

  • *The music that covers both pop princesses and indie kids

*Dim Swn April 2015 @ Cardiff *

Sat April 11

Nicki Minaj, Pink Print Tour @ Newcastle Metro Radio Arena

*Fri April 10 *

@ The SSE Hydro

Sat April 11

No, not a tasty chinese dumpling but a day of music in Cardiff, Dim Swn is back for another date full of brand new indie music. This time check out Brawlers, Beach Baby, Jagaara and Pretty Vicious. Yes you haven’t heard of them, but that’s kind of the point. If you fancy hits, then Nicki Minaj continues her excellent Pinkprint tour in Newcastle and Glasgow.

**If you wish Winter (not summer) was coming… **

Game Of Thrones @ Sky Atlantic

Mon April 13th

And, the new series of Game of Thrones premieres on Sky Atlantic this Monday so basically if you’ve never seen it you’ve got the whole weekend to binge watch the previous four seasons. Who needs vitamin D?
