Have you heard about Spritz? It's the new nearly-ready app that everyone was going mental for last week. Even though it's not out yet, people are already claiming it's going to change the way we read forever.
Basically, in a nutshell, it makes reading stuff really, really easy, and super duper fast. Using technology that doesn’t look all that fancy (obviously we could design it in like, five minutes if we had the chance) it revolutionises the way you read a page – flashing each word up on the screen at super speedy intervals. And for some reason, you manage to take it all in. HOW DOES THIS WITCHCRAFT WORK?
It starts off at 250 words per minute and once you're used to that, there's the opportunity to crank up the speed. Spritz currently goes as fast as 600wpm, meaning you can finally find the time to read War and Peace (it'll take you a mere 15 hours), or even that piece in the Atlantic that’s 17 pages long.
Here’s some other tech developments that are going to revolutionise your life. Some, er, might be more useful than others.
You won't ever have to wait in line at Starbucks again
Is there anything worse than waiting in line at Starbucks to get your hands on your mocha latte frappe? I mean yeah, course there is - but in a First World Problem sense, it's up there as Totally Annoying But Necessary Things. But fret not. Starbucks’ Chief Digital Officer Adam Brotman says the company are working on an app that'll mean you can order digitally and avoid the queue. Because ordering at Starbucks isn’t stressful enough.
An 'avatar doctor' will diagnose all your aches and pains
Just in case you needed more bait for the hypochondriac inside you, physician Robin Cook has claimed you could soon have access to a virtual doctor (the iDoc) on your phone - who uses the information from the 50,000 medical apps already available to diagnose you. Apparently it's going to cut down on hospital visits. 'If you think you are having a heart attack, your avatar doctor will look at your EKG, it will know your breathing rate,' Robin said. 'It might tell you to go back to sleep,' in the most reassuring sentence anyone’s ever said ever.
You'll get lucky on a plane
Ever been on a long haul flight and been REALLY pissed off that Tinder doesn’t work 30,000 feet in the air? Us either. Enter new app Wingman (see what they did there?) who say, ‘It doesn’t have to be awkward to meet someone on a flight. We’ll connect you, you figure out the rest.’ To the bathrooms!
You'll be able to change telly channels with your eyelashes
Think falsies are just for show? Not for long my friend. Developer Katie Vega is making smart eyelashes that can perform tasks like turning on and off lights, opening doors and changing channel on the TV. She’s also working on nail transfers that do the same thing.
