Bill’s is one of those places that keeps thing seasonal, so this summer they are all about fresh, light and tasty meals. For the summer months Bill’s is doing British dishes with a twist, with a new menu that includes gluten free options.

Last Friday a friend and I went to our local Bill’s to try out the new menu for a laid-back lunch. Seen as it was a Friday we treated ourselves to a couple of the new cocktails on offer; we both went for The Raspberry and Rosehip (rosehip gin with raspberry and pink lemonade cordial). I’m not a massive gin fan, but these were actually delicious; not too strong on the gin, and super refreshing.

To start with I tried out the new Tomato Bruschetta with mozzarella, delicious, light and fresh: a perfect summer’s starter. My friend’s got a sweet tooth, so decided to skip a starter and save room for desert.

I went for Bill’s new lime and coriander chicken served with kale coleslaw while she opted for the well-loved fish pie. Both dishes were good, hearty and full of flavor. The pie was jammed full of beautifully cooked fish, with a creamy mash potato topping while the chicken was zingy and light with the kale coleslaw making it a healthy option.

As for desert, I watched as my mate tucked in to a good-old-fashioned Eaton Mess; a huge bowl of meringue, strawberries, cream and deliciousness. Portions at Bill’s are generous, but not overwhelming. So you’re sure to leave felling full and happy. Oh, and if you don’t have time to stay for dessert, why not pick up a Jude’s ice-cream to go and enjoy what’s left of the British summer!
