A workout is always easier when you feel excited to put your kit on. FACT. Because saggy, uninspiring and worn-through Lycra just isn’t going to lift your mood when you are whipping out multiple lunges, or toiling on the treadmill. Throw in a few, chic and well-cut pieces of workout wear on the other hand, and suddenly, the gym feels like a catwalk – your catwalk to be precise. If all this chat sounds about, right we suggest turning to Nike's capsule collection with Berlin-based designer Johanna Schneider next time it's time for an upgrade: the new range, inspired by the human body and its organic construction is full of satisfyingly clean lines and minimal tailoring that look really great on – if we may say so ourselves.
Working alongside Nike atheletes, Johanna’s aim was to work up pieces that are adaptable, versatile and utilitarian – highlighted by the fact that they are worn by real athletes Morgan Lake, Emma Oudiou and Airine Palsyte in the campaign. For example, the NikeLab X JFS Long Sleeve Top (which we incidentally wore for a run this morning), has thumbholes to anchor it in place during squats and star jumps. The Sleeveless Cape meanwhile, can also be worn as a skirt during your warm up. Johanna also wanted pieces that weren't only at home in the gym, removing the need to pack a separate outfit for exercise after work.
But this lot don’t just look great - All the pieces feature Nike's signature patented Dri-Fit technology, allowing the wearer to keep cooler for longer and wick away sweat. “For me, clothing is like entering a room. I’m creating environments. And the ideal environment has to be modular,” Schneider says. “On some occasions, I want to be more covered up or I need more support. On other occasions, I want my clothing to breathe; I want it to open up.” The drool-worthy collection will be available exclusively at Nike from February 26th. Needless to say you’ll want the lot. .
