If you're on a gluten-free, dairy-free or otherwise restricted diet, the last thing you want is to feel like you're on a restricted diet. You want your brie baguette to taste just like a brie baguette, not like a substitute for the deliciousness of proper cheese and proper bread. And if you're trying to watch your calorie count, or skip dairy, Easter poses a unique threat with all its chocolately treats. Never fear - we've taste-tested a selection of free from and low sugar Easter alternatives so you don't have to go without this weekend - or feel like you're munching on cardboard...

Gluten & Dairy Free: Booja Booja Sea Salt Almonds Easter Egg (£26.99): " The flavour on this is really intense, and not sweet at all. I couldn't pick up any real caramel notes, or almond for that matter. It tastes a bit like a really, really dense raw brownie, which isn't necessarily bad, but it's not what it's billed as".

Tester's rating: 4/10

Low Sugar: Montezuma Dark Choc With Coco Nibs Eco Egg (£7.50): "It’s dark and bitter and good and it’s got a good crunchiness with those cocoa nibs. The nibs make it extra satisifying and perfect for a real dark chocolate lover. Not for milk chocolate fans!"

Tester's rating: 9/10

Thornton's No Added Sugar Chocolate Easter Egg, (£7.00): "This tastes just like normal chocolate - I honestly can't taste a difference. It's milk and yummy - great for anyone with a really sweet tooth."

Tester's rating: 8/10

Low Sugar: Balance No Sugar Added Mini Chocolate With Eggs : "These are every bit as indulgent and delicious as normal Belgian pralines – hard to believe they’re no sugar added! Super creamy and yummy."

Tester's rating: 10/10

Dairy Free: Hotel Chocolat Milk-Free Milk Goose Egg : " This isn't milky at all, in fact, it's a little bit bitter. It's not really milk substitute and is probably better for dark choc fans. The almond milk tricks you into thinking it’s milk chocolate, but it tastes dark."

Tester's rating: 8/10

Dairy Free: Choices Dairy Free Bunny,

"For me, this is too sweet. If there's no dairy, it should just be dark chocolate. Too sugary."

Tester's rating: 5/10

**Overall Winner: Balance No Added Sugar Praline Mini Eggs! **For overall yumminess, and how closer they mimiced the taste of normal, full sugar chocolate, this little morsels of delicious steal the crown.
