Set in over 1,000 acres of Bedfordshire parkland and steeped in history, Luton Hoo is one of the UK's great country houses. It has played host to Winston Churchill and with its imposing facade it's been used as a backdrop in many films (including Four Weddings and a Funeral). Step through an arched gateway and you'll find the spa, which is set in the former historic stables. You won't find any horses, but you will find a haven of tranquility designed to ensure you feel well and truly pampered. You can enjoy treatments from ESPA (the menu provides a huge choice), unwind in the relaxation areas and make full use of the infinity pool, vitality pool and heat therapy suite (which has a sauna, steam and solarium). Day spa guests are also invited to use the tennis courts, and explore the grounds on one of the nature walks or cycle rides.Spa days start from £130 per person, which includes an 80-minute Balinese Massage Treatment, a foot ritual, a two-course lunch in Adam's Brasserie and full use of the spa and leisure facilities.
Seaham Hall & Serenity Spa, Durham
This stunning Georgian country house sits on an idyllic cliff top location, amongst 37 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. The emphasis at the Serenity Spa is very much on rejuvenation of the body and mind. Chuan Body & Soul Spa at The Langham, London
Situated in London's West End, The Langham's spa has recently been revamped, with the newly crowned Chuan Body & Soul Spa lovingly restored to a hidden hub of urban wellness. Expertly executed treatments combine high-end facials, scrubs, wraps and beauty essentials with holistic rituals based on the principles of Chinese Medicine. Spa highlights include 'his and hers' steam and sauna rooms, a Technogym, and a stunning 16m pool which is set in the surround of an old banking vault. There's also a small 'spa bar' where you can sip on fruit juice or a detox shot after your treatment. You'll feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the adjacent metropolis. Spa at Ye Olde Bell, Yorkshire
The Spa at Ye Olde Bell is a tranquil gem located in Barnaby Moor and offers a plethora of spa experiences, such as a salt inhalation room, a steam bath, an alpine sauna and an experience shower walk. The indoor/outdoor pool has rejuvenating massage jets and by swimming through its glass doors, you can emerge into the fresh air. If you are brave enough, you can try the snow storm walk which is designed to help boost the immune system and eliminate toxins (it can also help with the appearance of cellulite, so it could be worth grinning and bearing the cold!) At the other end of the spectrum is the Sabbia Med which is designed to replicate a beach. In a 30-minute cycle this fun and uplifting therapy replicates sunrise to sunset! A family-run business, this homely country hotel is situated next to the glorious South Downs in West Sussex, just seven miles away from Goodwood. The Spa at Park House features a beautiful mother of pearl indoor swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam rooms and a relaxation room. In the summer you can take advantage of the heated outdoor swimming pool.
