GALLERY: CULT CAFÉ TREND OF 2015
The trend for 2015 seems to be Cult Cafés so here is a run down of our favourites.
DOG CAFÉ, LA
LA is soon to see America's first canine and coffee outlet. Founder and animal rescuer Sarah Wolfgang is the brains behind the idea and hopes with the help of fundraising website Indiegogo her first outlet will open on February 5th. Wolfgang is even using coffee from local Santa Monica based roasterie Grounds & Hounds.
TINCAN
This London based restaurant has unbelievably neither a chef nor a kitchen. That's because Tincan serve, 'only the finest tinned seafood from around the world'. Nothing fishy going on here, you have a choice of 30 different tinned delicacies. You can even take your trawl home with you if you fancy eating in!
THE MOOMIN BAKERY AND CAFÉ
The days of dining on your own are over. Thanks to some clever folks at The Moomin Bakery and Café in Japan, you can now eat whilst staring across the table at a giant stuffed Moomin. (Yes we are talking about the Finnish cartoon featuring hippo-like creatures). With branches in both Tokyo and New York and given recent Scandi-mania, there are sure to be more on their way!
SIMPLY CRISPY, BELFAST
Recently opening it's doors in Belfast this joint serves only crisp sandwiches. Originally meant as a joke, Simply Crispy is a pop-up café which offers a choice of over 20 types of crisps in addition to soup with monster munch croutons. When the Simply Crispy Café was launched they sold out of crisp sandwiches in only 2 hours! Just watch the crumbies!
HAMMOCK CAFÉ MAHIKA MANO, TOKYO
Located in the Kichijoji district of Tokyo, a place renowned for its chill-out atmosphere, Mahika Mano fits in just perfectly, with its hammocks hanging from the ceiling inviting passers-by to just sit back and enjoy a tasty drink.
LADY DINAH'S CAT EMPORIUM, LONDON
Based in trendy east London hotspot Shoreditch, this fantastic Cat Café is the perfect place to enjoy a hot cup of tea whilst cosying up to your favourite feline friend. Visit Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium.
CEREAL KILLER CAFÉ, LONDON
Twins from Belfast Alan and Gary Keery have always been obsessed with cereals and now they have the incredibly popular Cereal Killer Café. Also located in trendy Shoreditch this puffed wheat paradise boasts a choice of one hundred different cereals, thirteen different milks and twenty different toppings. Yum!
ZIFERBALT, LONDON
Ziferblat is the UK's first Russian chain of pay per minute cafés and has opened its doors in London. The idea is that customers pay 3p per minute they are there but for nothing else. They can use the space to work, play board games, use the kitchen or even make themselves coffee. Sounds super fun to us!
