I know what you’re thinking. Why on earth would I want to touch a bottle of Jose Cuevo outside the confines of a rowdy and otherwise unremarkable bar where, at around 12:37am, one of your mates ropes you into doing tequila slammers with the new friends she made in the toilets?
Tequila isn’t for everyone. At least, not in its conventional, bleary eyed and impulse driven sense. But, what if I told you that there are loads of tequila based cocktails out there that even the most adverse shot taker would be able to sip at leisure and (kind of, maybe) enjoy?
In this installment of desk drinks, a series where we show you how to make super easy and actually tasty cocktails from your desk before you head off into the night for Christmas parties and office drinks, we show you what you can do with that rogue bottle of tequila you don’t really know what to do with. Not a slammer in sight.

1. The Cool One
‘Juan’ Collins
**You need: **
50ml Jose Cuevo Silver
25ml Lemon juice
1 tsp Sugar
Soda water
Ice
**Method: **
Put everything except the soda water into a shaker and shake really well. Pour out into a glass over ice and top up with a splash of soda water (not too much otherwise it’ll literally just taste like soda and that’s not what we’re here for) and garnish with a little lemon slice.
2. The Kinda Classic One
Ginger Beer Margarita
You need:
50ml Jose Cuevo Silver
¼ teaspoon simple syrup (optional)
100ml Ginger beer
15ml Fresh lime juice
15ml Fresh orange juice
Salt
Lime wedge
Ice
**Method: **
Shake the tequila, lime juice and orange juice in a shaker with some ice and pour into an ice filled glass. Top with your ginger beer and garnish with that extra lime wedge. It’s that easy.
3. The Crowd Pleaser One
Red Berry Lemonade
**You need: **
50ml Jose Cuervo Silver
A few fresh blackberries
150ml lemonade
Lemon juice
Ice
**Method: **
Mash up the blackberries in the bottom of your glass and then top with crushed ice. Pour your tequila and lemonade on top and squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice in for extra tang. Pop a blackberry on top to make it look pretty.
4. The Grown Up One
Traditional Paloma
**You need: **
50ml Jose Cuervo Silver
50ml grapefruit juice
50ml soda water
Lime slice
A teaspoon of sugar
Salt to garnish
Ice
Method:
First do that fancy thing of running a slice of lime around the rim of your glass to moisten it and then dip it into salt. Pop ice, tequila, grapefruit juice and sugar into the glass and give it a little stir. Top with soda and voila.
5. The Party One
The Cuervo Pina
**You need: **
50ml Jose Cuevo Silver
75ml pineapple juice
25ml lime juice
Sliced lime
Ice
**Method: **
Pop all the liquids into a shaker and yes, you guessed it, shake. Then grab a glass with ice in and pour out the tequila-pineapple-lime concoction out on top. Done!
