A Miracle Has Occurred: We've Found A Way To Make Shit Wine Taste Good

We’ve never really been ones to believe in magic, but now, finally, we can turn water into wine.

Well - sort of. We can turn shit wine into decent wine, which is nearly the same thing.

And it’s almost as easy as counting to three and waving a wand.

The VelvWine Oxygenatoris a tool that you can stick into a full bottle of wine, and it’ll magically make it taste better.

There is some science behind it, of course. The Oxygenator pushes (you guessed it) oxygen into the wine, which opens its aromas, softens how it taste and hits its peak flavour in just a few minutes.

The website recommends different amounts of time depending on the type of wine. So for sauvignon blanc or riesling, you can have top quality wine in two to three minutes. For tempranillo or merlot you’ll have to wait four to five minutes, and for malbec or cabernet sauvignon, five to seven minutes.

It's definitely a one up from 'wine swirling', which, sorry to disappoint, is not a successful way of making your wine taste less Co op and more Côte de Nuits.

There’s also another hidden quality, that we wish we could find an answer to for all types of alcohol. The Velv removes tannins and sulfites which are thought to cause hangovers. Obviously, if you’re drinking it all night you’ll most likely suffer a little bit the next morning, but anything that can soften the blow a bit is always welcomed by us.

The only downside is that the Velv is £240 - but split that with a few housemates and think of all the money you’ll save by not buying slightly more expensive wine in the future.
