Quality Street Is Bringing Back The Toffee Deluxe This Christmas

We have some big news for confectionary fans far and wide: the Toffee Deluxe is making a return to the Quality Street tub.

After a period of absence – the much-loved rectangular toffee in its little brown wrapper was scrapped last summer – it’s officially back. YAAAY.

Under the impression that customers felt there were ‘too many’ toffees in the box, (what were they THINKING?) the Quality Street bosses decided to get rid of it.

And it wasn’t until they took it away that we realised that the Quality Street box just isn’t the same without it. You know what they say, you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone...

Some Quality Street trivia: the Toffee Deluxe was created in 1919, as a chocolate sold individually, and it’s been in the Quality Street box from the very start when it was invented way back in 1936.

The 'original' member of the Quality Street community was actually replaced by the Honeycomb Crunch, which was introduced as part of Quality Street’s 80th birthday celebrations. But loyal Toffee Deluxe fans were not having it. Twitter users asked Theresa May to step in, and there was even a petition.

Just in case you were wondering, there's also a new, smaller 750g tub available this year, alongside the bigger tins ranging from 900g to 1.5kg. The 750g tub costs £5 (Morrisons is selling them for £4.72).

Quality Street has decided to keep the Honey Comb Crunch, so there'll now be 13 rather than just 12 different chocolates to choose from as we get settled in on the sofa post-Christmas dinner and watch Love Actually for the thousandth time. There'll be no little paper menu though (it's printed on the inside of the lid).

'Quality Street is a brand that is all about bringing families and friends together through the love of each person's individual favourite sweet', said Jonathan Smith from the sweet brand.

'We are delighted to be keeping both sweets in the assortment and giving consumers even more choice, moving from 12 to 13 different sweets overall.'

It's a firm favourite and a Christmas staple, and we’ll be very happy to see its return to the tub.
