Poo is coming to the plates of Canadians. Yes, when you thought that boundaries couldn’t be pushed anymore, and the world couldn’t get anymore bizarre, a dessert menu full of poo-shaped food is going to be a thing in Toronto. What a time to be alive.

The new “Poop Café Dessert Bar” menu was created by a George Brown College graduate, who, in her own words, is trying to make poop ‘cute’. The so-called adorable poop food will be available from in Lien Nguyen’s café, opening mid-August in Koreatown.

The all-brown menu will feature chocolate soft-serve pudding and traditional Asian desserts, like patbingsoo (shaved ice with red beans). According to the Toronto Star: ‘All of the poo-ticular items available at the café will be brown, formed like a stool and served in toilet-shaped dishes.’

Delighted with her new bowel inspired cuisine, Ms Lguyen told Star that she came up with the idea while visiting her mother in Taiwan: ‘We checked out a toilet-themed restaurant and I just loved it. It’s funny to put food and poop together; it’s a great comparison,’ she added. ‘It stayed in my mind for a long time. As soon as I finished school, I said, ‘OK, I’m going to bring the restaurant to Toronto.’

The graduate recently completed a degree in culinary management, and wants to use her expertise influence people to ‘change their minds about poo’. ‘[It’s] considered very disgusting, [something] you can’t talk about when you’re eating,’ she said … until now.

It might be a first for Toronto, but similar lavatory-themed restaurants have already opened in Russia, South Korea, the Philippines, China, Japan and Indonesia. Although the concept was less successful in L.A, causing bowl-bearing Taiwan's Magic Restroom Cafe business to be flushed away after just eight months in business.
